Beach Getaway

Amelia Grove sits minutes from some of Sydney’s best coastline. Come for a summer swim, an autumn coastal walk, or a quiet winter weekend — the northern beaches are on your doorstep, and there is a private, self-contained retreat waiting when you get back.

Your Northern Beaches Base

Balgowlah sits on the ridge between Manly and the middle harbour beaches, so both sides of the peninsula are within easy reach. Leave the car at your door and walk, ride, or catch a bus to the sand.

  • Manly Beach & Shelley Beach: Sydney’s most iconic stretch of sand, with surf schools, beachside cafés, and the ocean pool at Shelley — a short hop from Balgowlah.
  • Fairlight & North Harbour: Quiet coves, calm swimming spots, and scenic picnic lawns minutes from your door.
  • The Spit to Manly Walk: A spectacular 10km cliff-top trail to Manly Wharf, starting a few minutes from the property.
  • Balgowlah Locals: Stroll to nearby cafés for a flat white and fresh pastries, or settle in at a local pub for a relaxed dinner.

Summer on the Beaches

Summer is the northern beaches at their best: long, warm days and gentle evenings that stretch well past sunset.

  • Swim, surf, or snorkel: Manly and Shelley are patrolled in season, and the harbour beaches at Fairlight are calm enough for a lazy float.
  • Early mornings are golden: Beat the crowds with a sunrise walk along the coastal path, then pick up coffee on the way home.
  • Cool down back at base: Air conditioning, a shaded private deck, and high-speed streaming on the Smart TV for the hottest part of the day.

Christmas & New Year

The holiday weeks are the busiest of the year on the northern beaches. Currently open at Amelia Grove:

  • 13 – 24 December — 11 nights leading into the Christmas break.
  • From 3 January — the first weeks of the new year, once the holiday guests depart.

Dates move quickly, so check live availability before you plan. Minimum stay and current rates are on our Airbnb listing.
